How to Use ChatGPT to Write for Your TpT Business

Using AI in your business sounds scary. If you use it, you risk AI taking over your store and replacing you (slight exaggeration). If you don't, you risk falling behind on technology.

You could hire a VA to get more writing done. And you still could. But, what if ChatGPT could give you an extra 5 hours each week?

"MORE TIME?! SIGN ME UP! Take my money. What do I need to do?"

You might have tried ChatGPT a few times in previous months and wasn’t impressed. Maybe it seemed like a waste of time. But then after listening to expert after expert talk about how helpful it is, you want to give it a shot.

You need to give it the right prompts. You need to train it just like you would train a virtual assistant.

It takes a few hours to learn how to teach ChatGPT. But after that, your eyes will be opened. You could use ChatGPT as a VA to write social media, blogs, email, do research, etc. How?

Teach ChatGPT Write Social Media Posts

One of the things ChatGPT does amazingly well is repurposing content. So take a blog post or an email you wrote and ask ChatGPT to repurpose it for you. Prompt:

Analyze this email for tone, word choice, and style. Then condense and rewrite it in the form of an Instagram post.

Out will come your blog or email as a post. With hashtags. Copy and paste them into your scheduler. All you need to do is resize the blog image to a post image.

Teach ChatGPT to Write Blogs

We need to think carefully and long term about how use use AI for our content. The ethics here are fuzzy at this point. ChatGPT is generating content for you. But, if you aren’t paying for this service, it could come back to bite you.

Remember, teachers are coming to your website because they want to read your content. Not ChatGPT’s. Use AI as a tool and show off your skills. Don’t use it to copy it’s work like a highschooler just trying to skate by.

You could prompt:

Write a blog post about teaching math centers for second grade.

It will do that. But you didn’t write it. And it will sound like AI wrote it. Google won’t penalize you for using AI in that post. Google will penalize you for posting terrible content. Instead, use AI to write portions of your blogs.

Make your headlines better

Tell your ChatGPT VA to brainstorm headlines with you.

Prompt:

Write 20 variations on the blog headline, “How to teach math centers for second grade.”

Then depending on what it gave you ask your ChatGPT VA to rewrite those headlines to be more funny, more curious, or add in a benefit.

Write your opening paragraph

Tell your ChatGPT VA to write a rough draft opening blog paragraph for you.

Prompt:

Write a opening blog paragraph for the headline "How to teach math centers for second grade".

ChatGPT provided this text:

“Math centers can be an effective way to engage second-grade students in hands-on learning experiences that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, implementing math centers in the classroom can be a daunting task for teachers, especially for those who are new to the practice. To ensure that math centers are effective and beneficial for students, teachers must have a clear understanding of how to design, implement, and manage them in the classroom. In this blog post, we will explore some strategies and best practices for teaching math centers in second grade classrooms.”

That’s terrible. It's difficult to read. The sentences are long. The tone is too formal. It feels like reading the dictionary before coffee.

Tell your ChatGPT VA to rewrite the paragraph.

Prompt:

Rewrite the paragraph in a fun, encouraging, and inspiring tone.

ChatGPT provided this text:

“Let's dive into the exciting world of math centers for second graders! Math centers are an awesome way to ignite your students' curiosity and boost their problem-solving skills. Yes, we know it can be overwhelming to set up and manage these centers, but trust us, it's totally worth it! With a little guidance and creativity, you can create a fun and engaging learning environment that will help your students thrive. So buckle up, teachers, because we're about to explore some fantastic strategies and best practices for teaching math centers in your second grade classroom!”

Now you can take that and change the opening line to fit you, add in 3-5 points that you want to address in your post and you are on your way to a well written blog. Sometimes it's faster to use ChatGPT as a VA. Sometimes it gives your brain a break. But, at the beginning it takes more work. Remember that it is a developing technology. As life long learners, we should at least test it out.

But what if you are stuck on the 3 points?

Ask your ChatGPT VA to give you a few ideas for main points.

Prompt:

Write 6 encouraging subheadlines for the blog headline "How to teach math centers for second grade". (Ask for more than you need because some won't be helpful.)

Then either ask it to rewrite the subheadlines to be shorter, more inspirational, more curious, etc.

But you see how this works. The key here is to remember you are the blog Architect. You are not the blog Copy Paster. Teach it how to write for you.

Make Email Writing Easier with ChatGPT

If you ask your ChatGPT VA to write a back to school site-wide sale email for you, it will.

But it will be terrible.

It will be more bland than unsalted grits served with a side of cardboard. (Not to mention it won’t convert well.)

Look at your analytics. Find an email that converted really well. Ask your ChatGPT VA to analyze it for tone, word choice, and style. Then ask it to write an email in the same style on your new topic.

You’ll be blown away with the results.

Use ChatGPT to Research Faster

Ask ChatGPT about a day in the life of a teacher to put a relatable story in one of your sales emails. You’ll instantly know if it is relatable or not because you’ve been there.

You can also copy and paste hundreds of reviews for a product and analyze the reviews for why teachers buy. Then use that information to write a better description or sales email.

When you are trying to remember a word, instead of going to the thesaurus, ask ChatGPT.
